How we make money
AlaskanCruises.us is a cruise booking service as well as a publication. When you book an Alaska cruise through our specialists, the cruise line pays us a commission. That is the primary way this site is funded, and it is how the guides stay free to read.
What it costs you
Nothing extra. Cruise fares booked through an agency are the same as, and sometimes lower than, the prices published by the cruise lines directly, and commission is paid by the line out of its own margin. Where we can add onboard credit, upgrades or group rates, we do.
The rules that keep the guides honest
- Editorial decisions come first. Rankings, ratings and recommendations are set by the editorial desk on the merits, and commission rates, which differ between cruise lines, never alter them.
- Our booking specialists work from the same comparison guides you read. There is no separate list of preferred lines behind the phone number.
- Earning commission from a line does not exempt it from criticism. Our cruise line guides list the trade offs of every operator we sell, by design.
- If a lower commission sailing is the better trip for you, that is the one we recommend, in print and on the phone.
- Prices and claims are verified the same way for every line under our fact checking policy.
Other income
We may also add clearly labelled affiliate links for products such as travel insurance or gear. If a link can earn us a commission, the page will say so near the link, not buried in a footer. We do not accept payment for coverage, placement or reviews, and we do not run sponsored content presented as editorial.
If this changes
If any part of this model changes, this page will say so plainly, with the date of the change.
