About us

An independent guide to cruising Alaska

AlaskanCruises.us exists to answer one set of questions well: how to choose, book and enjoy an Alaska cruise. We cover nothing else, and we go deeper on this one subject than a general travel site can.

What we are

Two things, deliberately together. First, an independent publication: comparison guides for every cruise line sailing Alaska, detailed guides to every port and glacier on the circuit, planning guides and cost guides with honest ranges. Second, a booking service: Alaska cruise specialists who price every line on one call and handle the booking end to end when you are ready.

How we make money

Cruise lines pay us commission when you book through us. You never pay more than booking direct, and we frequently secure onboard credit or upgrades the public websites do not show. That commission funds the free guides. The full detail, including what commission never buys, is in our disclosure page.

What commission never changes

The guides. We are not owned by, or exclusive to, any cruise line, and commission rates never alter a rating, a ranking or a recommendation. When we say Princess has the most Glacier Bay entries or that Carnival is the price floor, that is analysis, and it is the same analysis our own booking specialists work from. If a lesser commission earns you a better trip, that is the trip we recommend.

How we work

  • Every page names its author and, where the page makes recommendations, a separate fact checker.
  • Every page shows its publication date and its last update.
  • Prices are published as ranges and rechecked before each season.
  • We describe wildlife in probabilities, not promises.
  • Errors are corrected quickly and materially significant corrections are noted.

The full detail is in our editorial policy and fact checking policy.

The team

Our writers have worked Alaska seasons shore side, sailed the routes repeatedly, and built the cost models behind our price ranges. Meet them on the team page, where each profile lists the specific experience behind their bylines.
